3D Printed Inflection Vase Designed by Clockspring3D
Once again I had loaded up the printers with multi-coloured "toothpaste"-style filament, and wondered what kind of elements might show off the fact that the print surface bears a different colour depending on the orientation of the model with respect to the printer.
You'd never know to look at this but the first version of this idea was very angular, with flat planes tilting in different directions up the height of the vase, but it occurred to me that I could make that a continuous shift of direction instead. That turned out into those sweeping vanes that twist as they rise, which causes the colour shift of those kinds of filaments to end up twisting around the vase on an angle instead of being straight up and down.
That said, it's also just a swirly, twisty vase, and it'll print just fine in any filament you choose to throw at it! :)
